Slow Travel Blog Posts

You’ve reached the ‘Slow Travel’ zone, where the motto is ‘less rush, more living.’ This isn’t just a travel style; it’s an invitation to immerse yourself so deeply in local cultures and environments that you start feeling like part of the scenery.

So, what exactly is slow travel? You’re not just visiting a place; you’re living it. You’re swapping out those whirlwind tours for a chance to really connect with the places you visit. It’s about savoring each moment, whether that’s spending a lazy afternoon in a local café, chatting with the regulars, or renting a quaint little cottage in the countryside for a month just because it feels like a second home.

I’ve had some of my most memorable experiences while house sitting. It’s like stepping into someone else’s life for a while. You get to care for cute pets, and in return, live like a local without the cost of accommodation. It’s a win-win! I’ve made friends with neighbors, and discovered hidden gems that no travel guide ever mentioned.

Renting a place for longer is another way to go. Currently I’m renting this adorable house in a nature reserve in South Africa. Waking up to the sound of the birds, shopping at the local farmers market, and taking the time to learn a few phrases in a few of the 11 official languages – that’s the essence of slow travel.

So, if you’re ready to trade in fast-paced itineraries for experiences that linger in your soul long after you’ve returned home, you’re in the right place. In our ‘Slow Travel’ category, I’ll share my personal insights on embracing this beautiful way of traveling. Get ready to slow down, and breathe in the beauty of the world.
